The U.S. Treasury Department has set guidelines to streamline Short Sales. The Foreclosure Alternatives Program will provide financial incentives and simplify the process; some key highlights include:

Response from a lender within 10 days of an offer

Seller released from all liability for repayment of mortgage debt & entitled to relocation incentive

Lender paid $1,000 to cover administrative & processing costs

Property must be listed with licensed real estate agent that does regular business in houses’ neighborhoods

Lender is prohibited from requiring a reduction in agreed-upon real estate commission

Agent Success Story: Steve Fiorella
Staying Connected Pays Off - Steve Fiorella, an agent with RE/MAX Results in Apple Valley, MN, recently won a new HP Mini 5101 netbook. Steve entered a technology contest through the National Association of REALTORS’ Conference and Expo that was advertized via MAAR’s eNotes. Steve says, “To enter the contest I had to write a 200 word essay about how mobile technology is a vital part of my business; and quite honestly it was really easy to write about because I truly believe that the advancements in today’s technology help me everyday by either reaching a new client or connecting with a current client. Phishing Emails
Some of you may have seen a phishing email that hit last weekend. The sender has since been blocked and the email should be deleted. Please remember - to identify a phishing or spam email watch for:
1. A vague subject and description.
2. A request for personal information such as usernames, passwords, first/last name, etc. (RE/MAX will NEVER ask for this information!)
3. A misspelled word, generic or missing signatures or an unfamiliar URL.
